Martin’s role in Poveda Hayes
Martin’s primary focus since joining Poveda Hayes is attending to the wide range of needs of our international clients. He actively assists international clients from first contact with our company right to through to the conclusion of the matter in question – be it at the closing of a property purchase at the notary or guiding them through the Spanish court system to obtain a sucessful judgement.
We always find that the circumstances and needs of each client are unique to them. Martin has a hands on and direct approach to matching the client’s needs to their Spanish legal requirements. Our partners work closely together on each file each bringing their skills sets to the table. By doing so we ensure that the client benifits from 20-20 vision in the examination of the matter in question so that no aspect is over looked. When dealing with a matter on a client’s behalf, Martin brings into play his considerable experience as a skilled negociator, litigator, property specialist and international private client lawyer.

Professional Qualifications:
Martin holds an honours law degree and a law masters degree in Information Technology and Telecommunications law. In addition to maintaining his membership as a solicitor with the Law Society of Ireland he also holds membership as a lawyer with Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Valencia (the law society of Valencia).
Professional History:
Following the completion of his studies, Martin was appointed as the first legal information officer to the JISC Legal Information Service (JISC Legal). This service provides legal assistance to Universities and colleges across the UK on all aspects of Information Communication Technologies and the law.
On return to his native Ireland, Martin joined Landwell Solicitors in Dublin. In this role Martin gained invaluable experience across a broad range of practice areas such as company law, commercial litigation, sector regulation and property law.
During this time in Dublin , Martin held the position of Auditor (president) of the Solicitors Apprentice Debating Society of Ireland (SADSI) and was subsequently appointed as a junior council member of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA).
Move to Spain:
Martin moved to Valencia in 2004 with his wife who is a native of the city. Since then he has been advising overseas clients across a wide range issues and greatly enjoys meeting the challenges presented by International General Practice.

Martin contributes to various newspapers and has interviewed on television and radio covering Spanish issues. Martin uses such coverage to stress the importance of being fully informed by independent expert advisors before embarking on any transaction in Spain. This message is espoused by the excellent “Know Before You Go Campaign”
